Volunteer Researchers And Writers Wanted

Established in December 2009, STATIC MASS is a non-profit independent UK film journal which looks at a broad range of work from the industry. With research grounded in film theory, history and the philosophy of film our approach is to explore what the essence of film is.

We’re looking for researchers and writers to join our team from January 2012 to work on monthly features. As well as undertaking research, you’ll also be working on marketing your articles to readers using social media. We’ll assist you in planning and identifying areas of research and also provide you with feedback as well.

If you’re familiar with or passionate about the work from any of these directors then we really want to hear from you: Akira Kurosawa, Andrey Tarkovsky, Bernardo Bertolucci, Billy Wilder, Bob Fosse, Elia Kazan, Emeric Pressburger, Eric Rohmer, Erich von Stroheim, F.W. Murnau, Federico Fellini, François Truffaut, Frank Capra, Fred Zinnemann, Fritz Lang, Ingmar Bergman, Jean Renoir, Jean-Luc Godard, John Huston, John Woo, Josef von Sternberg, Leni Riefenstahl, Luchino Visconti, Luis Buñuel, Orson Welles, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Raj Kapoor, Ravi Chopra, Sergei M. Eisenstein, Vittorio De Sica and William Wyler.

If any of these issues strike a chord with you and you can use film together with strong research to speak about them, then we also want to hear from you: justice, equality, civil rights, freedom, environmentalism, climate change, war, terrorism, global debt, Occupy Movement, financial crisis, LGBT, disability, education, mental health and government policies.
